June 22
As you can see there has been very few posts since April. This has been for two reasons. One, my laptop had failed and had to be sent away for repair so i was unable to access the software I use to update the site. Two, we have had very little to update.
We still have no track available for racing, however not wanting to go into too much detail I am currently negotiating with a farmer in the Chester area to obtain the use of a field, we hope to use this venue for the upcoming national in August. If it turns out as I hope we may have the venue on a 10 year lease.
The indoor racing has closed for the summer and will start again in September.
Hopefully I will be updating this news section soon
April 10
Ok sorry for the lack of updates but there hasnt been much to update. The reason for the delay with our new track venue has been down to the fact we have been moved again before we have even got started.
The Landowner has now asked us to use a different field to the one we were originally going to use at the Crocky Trail and as yet we have not been able to make a start. We are hoping this will change over the next few weeks so please keep an eye on the website. In my opinion the new venue is better than the one we were going to use at the Crocky Trail so I'm looking forward to getting started. All help will be appreciated.
In the mean time we are still racing indoors for those who would like to keep their thumbs occupied and will do so until we are ready to move outside.
February 22
No Racing Feb 27th Tuesday indoor venue due to Airbus function.
Due to other commitments (mostly work related) I have not had much time to update the website recently. Apologies for this.
As many are probably already aware our outdoor rallycross track is no longer in use as we are now moving to our new venue at the Crocky Trail in Waverton.
I would like to ask all Club members to try and help out as best as they can, please get intouch the usual way to let me know what u can provide in the way of assistance.
1st Job is to move the rostrum down to the new venue, possibly this coming Saturday and erecting it in its new location, a few members have already been busy dismantling it.
We then need to move the pit lane, once this is done we can take the track piping down and start laying out our track, the new landlord has informed us he doesnt want tyres used so it will be just pipe ducting for the track perimeter only. Anyone know of any going cheap please let us know.
Track fencing will need to be erected as the Crocky Trail normally has a few thousand screaming kids running round it, the last thing we want is a track invasion so once we have our track layout in mind we need to erect a decent fence, I believe Craig has been offered some posts from a Builders Merchants who may like to sponsor the Club, anyone with similar ideas let us know.
The ground is still very wet at the new venue and might not be raceable for a while yet, we are hoping that we can lay some astro turf down to make it a more viable race venue during wet periods.
On behalf of the club and it's members I would like to thank Craig and his family for there generous support they have given us over the past 9 months in allowing us to use their field and especially to Craig for all the hardwork he put in in building the track. Kindest regards to you and your family.
Paul
February 10
Thanks to everyone who turned up last Sunday for the Northern Challenge, we had an excellent days racing with equally excellent weather.
Unfortunately due to our imminent move to our new location this was our last meeting. Next Sunday will be a work day meeting at the track at about 13.30 to dismantle the rostrum. I would like to thank Craig and his family for providing our club with a home for the past 9 months. Although a temporary track, I personally think it was better than some permanent venues.
We hope to have the rallycross section of the club up and running again in the not too distant future, keep checking the website for updates.
February 1
Northern Challenge Round 3 this Sunday 4th February.
Be at our track early as booking in closes at 8.30am we are looking forward to a great days racing the weather forecast looks excellent for the weekend and the track is in superb condition.
Our usual caterer has been unavailable to contact the past two weeks so although he confirmed he would be at the meeting I have been unable to check if this is still the case, so I am sad to say its looking likely there will be no caterers at the weekend.
January 26
Apologies for not updating the website recently. There will be a club meeting this coming Sunday 28th January again weather permitting.
Hopefully we can see you all there.
I may be re-considering the winter meetings as there isnt enough people turning up to make the racing worth while at the moment so I'm hopefully looking forward to a better turn out this Sunday.
Sunday 4th February Mold will be hosting the re-scheduled 3rd round of the Northern Challenge, booking in will be from 8.00am with racing hopefully starting about 9.30am. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
January 13
OK Meeting should still be going ahead tomorrow, unless there is a deluge of rain overnight. Booking in starts at 10.00 am racing from 10.30. Cya There!
January 5
Happy New Year to everyone I hope you all enjoyed the holiday period.
Well only a few hardy members turned up for the xmas meeting but thanks to those who did, it turned out to be a wonderful sunny morning. Unfortunately the PA system decided to take up smoking and died a death, it was fun and games trying to run a meeting with no PA but we managed.
There has been quite a lot of rain the past week and because of this I would like to make the next Sunday meeting next week January 14. This will hopefully give the track time to dry out.
We have decided on our new venue so the main task for the next three months is to get it ready to move all our gear from Craig's farm to the new location. I will announce a plan of action in a few weeks time.
National entry forms should have arrived this weekend so those who are going get the forms in quick to avoid disappointment.
Paul.
December 27
Well I hope everyone got what they wanted from Father Christmas.
The meeting tomorrow will be going ahead as planned, the track has dried out reasonably well since the downpour a few weeks ago.
Racing will be from 10.30 so try and get there for 9.30 - 10.00. We will be doing the usual format, three rounds and a final, the finals being about 15 -20mins depending on how many turn up.
December 19
Sorry for the late notice but the meeting tonight has been cancelled due to unforseen circumstances (no I don't mean the fog). Sorry for the inconvenience. Next indoor meeting Tuesday 2nd January.
There will be a Christmas meeting on Thursday 28th December at our outdoor venue. Hopefully the track will have dried out by then. Check the website for any updates regarding this meeting.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our members a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Regards,
Paul
December 8
Sunday Meeting Cancelled
OK due to the constant rain over the past 10 days half of our track is now submerged under water so we feel its just too wet to hold a meeting.
Hopefully we can reschedule for February.
December 7
Well its not looking good for Sunday the BBC long range forcast is Friday Showers, Saturday Heavy Showers and Sunday Heavy Rain. I will inspect the track on Friday and Saturday just to see if its going to be possible to race.
December 6
Finally the pics from our Nitrux meeting are on the Gallery page.
Our club has once again been given the chance to hold a National next year in August. Our committee members should be making a final decision this weekend to the location of our new venue. We then have to organise getting it ready for racing in the summer.
The new calendar is up on the calendar page.
I will be sending our members BRCA renewal forms off next week so if I havent been in touch with you regarding this matter and you wish to renue your BRCA membership through our club then drop me a line either by text, phone or email.
December 4
Ok Details for this Sunday are as follows:
Booking in closes at 8.30am so make sure your there on time. Due to the amount of rain we have had the past few weeks we may have to alter the track a little but it should still be ok to race.
Our usual caterers have been arranged 'The Tasty Grill'.
Depending on how long it takes to book everyone in will depend on how many rounds there will be.
December 1
I will be down at the track this Sunday hopefully to run a meeting if the track has drained enough to run one. We might have to alter the layout a bit but if its not raining on the day I'm determined to get a meeting going.
We have had quite a few enquiries about our club this week so well done to all our members for spreading the word. We are rapidly approaching Christmas so I hope everyone has managed to get their letters off to Father Xmas in time. Weather permitting I might run a special Christmas meeting outdoors with some 'prizes' hopefully between Xmas and New Year. Most people are normally off in between with nothing to do so I thought it might be fun to brush off the yule tide cobwebs and get some racing going.
A reminder to let you know its the third round of the Northern Challenge next Sunday 10th at our track so lets make our Northern Friends welcome. For anyone reading this and are not a member of our club and would like to race then please get in touch with me with your details.
A special Merry Christmas to our Aussie member Kris Wall who jetted off to Newcastle, Australia this week to spend Xmas down under. Kris is a stalwart member of the club always helping with track management and offering to help anyone who asks. His tireless enthusiasm is a great example to other racers.
I've got to say after looking at Newcastle on Google Earth the huge beach and rolling waves just looks sooo boring. I'd much prefer to be back here enjoying a white christmas......yeah right!
Have a hot one m8!
November 25
No meeting tomorrow due to track being flooded. We have had about four days constant rain, a large part of the track is under water therefore there will be no meeting this week. We will hold a club meeting next Sunday assuming the weather improves.
November 17
Just a reminder this Sunday is round two of the Northern Challenge at the Preston Model Car Club, check out their website at www.prcc.co.uk for directions.
November 15
Well I'd like to thank everyone involved with Mold Model Car Club for making yesterdays meeting such a success and a special thanks to all the drivers who attended who made it an even bigger success on the track. The feedback was good from everyone and I think most people had an excellent days racing. Although I've come to the conclusion that trying to run a meeting and race at the same time isn't a good idea.
I hope to post some pics of the meeting soon.
November 9
Caterers have been arranged for Sunday.
So far we are expecting in excess of forty drivers this weekend, according to the weather forecast it will be fine Saturday and possibly light showers Sunday. Hopefully we will have an excellent days racing.
November 8
There are a few people coming down on the Saturday afternoon, I would like to ask that these people do not use our track for practicing. To make it fair for everyone we will be running timed practice rounds on the Sunday before the first Qualifying rounds. If you require to check your cars beforehand then please use the field and not the track.
Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
November 5
Remember, Remember the 5th of November......
OK we are meeting as usual this coming Tuesday. See you all there.
1 week to go before we hold the 4th round of the Nitrux Winter Series. We have approximately 20 drivers booked in so far, remember no entries on the day however you can pay on the day. For those who are travelling down on Saturday you can camp adjacent to our track. If you can bring your own water then please do so however Craig whose family own the farm has offered to supply water if need be.
Club members, there are a few things need sorting out down at the track, I will be there from about 10.00am Saturday so any volounteers who would like to help will be greatly appreciated.
Booking in Sunday from 8.00am. We need to be under way no later than 10.00am as we will have to be finished by 4.30pm at the latest.
October 30
Just a reminder there will be no indoor meeting this week at Airbus as the hall is being used by an out of school club.
Meeting next Tuesday as usual and next Sunday meeting November 12 Nitro Truck winter series round 4.
October 27
Computer problems this week so sorry the site hasn't been updated recently. Meeting this Sunday from 10.00am remember clocks go back this weekend so you all get an extra hour in bed Sunday morning so no excuses for not turning up.
We had a great days out at Pendle last Sunday the guys there put on a great meeting and an excellent turn out too with over 50 drivers. The results can be found on their website here
October 21
Dave Crompton has just been in touch confirming tomorrows meet is going ahead as planned.
Aim to be there from 8am they will be putting the track out today so we will be racing as soon as everyone has arrived.
October 18
First round of the Northern Challenge this Sunday at Pendle Model Car Club, we are expected to arrive at approximately 8-9am to help build the track.
I have provided the club with your racing details with the exeption of your BRCA membership numbers so make sure you have them to hand.
We will probably be leaving at about 7am if anyone isn't sure of the way and wants to follow me give me a call or text to arrange a local meeting point. See you all Sunday.
October 8
As you are aware our outdoor venue at Tattenhall is only temporary and we are currently looking at two possible permanent locations, I will keep everyone informed as developments occur.
The Nitrux winter series information can be found on their website here.
You can also download the entry form from our calendar page. The series runs over 11 rounds of which 4 best results will count towards the finals meeting. Entry fee per meeting is £10 or £15 if you are doing two classes.
No entries on the day of meeting as the organising clubs don't want to spend the morning entering people onto their computer systems. There will be trophies available at each meeting.
This is an excellent series and utilises some of the bigger circuits used by the BRCA National series. Its a great way to improve your driving skills and get experience on differnet types of tracks.
October 4
Another good meeting last night well done everyone. Our next outdoor meeting will be a week on sunday that's the 15th October. The following Sunday after that will be the first round of the Northern Challenge at Pendle.
See you all next Tuesday.
September 27
Meeting this Sunday 1st October, we will have the usual club meeting 3 rounds and a final, assuming we don't get bombarded with lightning bolts like we did last week, sorry to hear about the damage to Craig's Farm.
I would just like to point out that it isn't normally a good idea to run over to the rostrum to retrieve your radio when there are lightning bolts blowing up farm machinery and power transformers within aproximately 100yds of it. I would say jumping in a car and taking shelter would be a better cause of action!
Here's hoping we have a better day next week
We had an excellent turn out last night at our indoor venue with some equally excellent racing. I would like to thank everyone who helps with the buiding of the track and also for those who help at the end of the evening to put it all away again, you guys know who you are. I would like to say as numbers increase it would be helpful if members remembered their duties during a meeting, i.e. marshalling. Everyone should marshal unless they have someone doing it for them. When marshalling, the car in question should be righted as quickly as possible. All members should marshal as well as they themselves would expect to be marshalled, as with all sports there are differences in ability and no-one should feel marshalling is beneath them.
September 22
There are some results up on the results page from the past few meetings. I will hopefully post up some pics from Slough soon. We will be soon holding an interclub indoor championship with Neston and Ellesmere Port Clubs, as soon as we have finalised dates I will post it on the Calendar page.
Dave Crompton wins his 8th National Rallycross title.
On behalf of Mold Model Car Club I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dave and Stan on their 8th title. Dave led from start to finish in the final with Jon Hazlewood finishing in second place. Mold has always had a close relationship with Nitro Models as most of our top drivers race Crono cars and RB engines, their trackside support has always been excellent, always finding time to help those that request it. Thanks guys and good luck for 2007.
For the rest of us mere mortals we had a mixed bag at Slough, the BRCA website hasnt been updated with the results as I write this so I will have to go from memory.
Winston Barnett had a problem with his car, no matter what engine he used he couldnt get the car to start, he only made the first qualifying round.
Duncan Neale had a decent first and second round although not by his standards and had a problem with the car in the third round.
Paul Teece (me) had a good first round, second round was compromised with a slipping throttle horn which meant I had no brakes and half throttle for the last 2 mins of the race, not a good combination for Slough. Third round wasnt too bad just couldnt quite better my first round time.
Dave Blakely had a couple of good rounds but not quite up to his usual standard. Slough is an excellent venue but very different from the type of tracks we are used to which I think affected our overall qualifying. I think Dave qualified in the F final and gambled on going the full ten minutes without refuelling, the gamble didnt pay off as he ran out of fuel on the very last lap while in a bump up position.
Duncan and I qualified in the I final in fourth and third place respectively, Duncan wasnt happy with his car in the final and ended up finishing seventh. I got off to a great start and after six minutes was comfortably leading the final when my engine cut, after a pit stop and refuelling I went back out to cut again after two corners. Glow plug had failed. My third final I hadnt finished due to mechanical problems.
Overall a good day, the weather had been excellent. If anyone has the chance to experience racing at Slough then do, it is an excellent venue with a superb track and excellent facilities. Their members should be proud of holding an excellent final round.
September 14
We held our first indoor meeting last Tuesday, I will be posting the results up soon. Some of our members are off to Slough this Sunday for the final round of the Rallycross nationals so good luck to them. We will be running indoors again next Tuesday and then the following Sunday will be our next meeting at the offroad track at Tattenhall.
Additional round added to Northern Challenge
Another club has asked to host a 4th round of the Northern Challenge I will post up the details as soon as they become available.
September 4
Indoor Venue will start next Tuesday September 12th
Ok its time to dust off the vdubs and scale saloons and ready them for next Tuesday at our usual indoor venue at the Airbus Factory Canteen Broughton near Chester.
Last evening Meeting Wednesday September 6
This coming wednesday will be our last outdoor evening meeting as it is now getting dark at about 8.15 pm.
We will be meeting this Sunday September 10th weather permitting usual time 9.30am racing starts about 10.00am.
Mold Winter Championships
Over the Winter I will be holding an Off-Road Club Championship hopefully over 10 rounds with 7 to count. Once I have finalised the dates I will post on the Calendar page.
We will be holding the fourth round of the Nitrux Winter Series on November 12th, for more information on the series dates and format head over to www.nitrotrucks.com
The series is very well supported with between 40-60 drivers competing, there will be trophies available on the day with the results going towards the overall championship.
There will be classes avilable for 1/8th rallycross, 1/10th Stadium Trucks, 1/10th Monster Trucks and 1/8th Truggies.
August 27
We ran our first weekend meeting today, the format was a 3 round qualification with a 15 minute B final and a 20 minute A final. The two top drivers in the B final 'bumped up into the A final. The day went well, hopefully we will have more drivers attending as more people become aware of the meetings.
Our Next Sunday meeting will be the 10th of September the weekend before the final round of the nationals at Slough. We will be meeting this wednesday as usual although this may be for the last time as its getting dark now about 20.30.
August 22
Well we are back from the national held last Sunday at Swindon, we all had a mixed day. Duncan qualified well in the E final but the car just wasnt working for him in the final. Dave qualified on pole in the D final and bumped up to the C final where he just missed out going up again to the B. I suffered from mechanical problems all day missing out on the third round of qualifying completely but the first two rounds just managed to get me into the bottom final. Unfortunately I didnt make the start line due to clutch problems during warmup and after I did manage to get going my steering servo packed in after about 7 laps. Don and Mike were also having problems and failed to qualify.
I hope to get some pics up in the Gallery.
First Sunday meeting this coming Sunday 27th of August
I want to run a meeting this coming Sunday, it will start with open practice at 9.30am, racing will start at 10.00am if its popular then we may continue running meetings through the winter.
Northern Challenge
During the winter we hold a round of the Northern Challenge organised by Stan and Dave Crompton of Nitro Models and their local club Pendle along with Preston M.C.C. the dates are on the Calendar page.
August 15
Ok if you can read this message the new style website should be up and running. Clubnight tomorrow, be there as soon as possible I want to try and get the racing under way for about 6.45pm. The nights are getting darker earlier, we may only have 4 to 6 weeks left in the evening. I hope to have Sunday meetings running by then with the possiblilty of running a Winter Championship. I will start posting clubnight results from tomorrow night onwards so you can check how much you improve over the next few months.
August 10
Once again the guys were down at the track last Sunday finishing the pit lane ready for last nights club meeting, the guys have done a fantastic job, thanks to Chris W and Chris S. Craig and I redesigned the track layout Monday night, the intention was to slow the track down a bit while at the same time making it a bit more technical.
Last nights clubnight was probably one of our best supported meetings which isnt bad for a club that has had to change venues three times in six months, go check out the pics over in the Gallery.
As the nights start to draw in we hope to move the club meetings to a Sunday. More details will appear nearer the time.
Look forward to seeing evryone next week.
July 30
Well we did an awesome job today to erect the rostrum and finish the pit lane. I want to say a special thanks to Craig and Chris who spent most of their Sunday working down there. Thanks also to Dave and Steve for helping out. Great job guys!!!
We are now ready to race this coming Wednesday. Craig has done an awesome job building the track almost single handed, well it helps having a selection of farm machinery at your disposal, I think everyone will be really impressed. There are a few jumps, a huge table top and a long straight to really get your engine tuned to perfection. There are some pics over in the Gallery.
I want to try and get a Sunday meeting going in a few weeks time, hopefully to get some real experience for the club driver for long finals, 10, 15 and 20 minute long races, get to see how your car and your concentration holds up. Maybe as the summer draws to a close we can have a meeting every other sunday and perhaps run a winter championship. Anyone who has any thoughts get in touch.
We hope to be holding a few bigger meetings later this year an 8/10 meeting which normally has about 40 - 50 drivers and a Northern challenge meeting.
July 29
We will be going to the new track this Sunday to erect the rostrum ready for Wednesday, any volounteers would be appreciated.
Call me on 07799 776288 for directions.
July 25
Ok we didnt get all of the rostrum dismantled last wednesday so if we can have a few people down there again tomorrow it would be greatly appreciated. Craig has worked his socks off and has finished the new track, all we need now is the rostrum moved to our new venue.
Don and I hope to be at Dodleston tomorrow from 6pm so we need as much help as possible. We can try out the new track too so if anyone wants to come along afterwards then please bring your cars down.
July 17
The club owes its thanks to Craig Campbell for the use of one of his fields. We intend to dismantle the rostrum and pit lane this wednesday evening and move to the new location and hopefully we can continue racing as soon as possible. We hope to see as many people down there this Wednesday to help.
July 15
It has now been confirmed that we are no longer able to use the track. Chester City Council have placed an order against the landowner to remove all structures from the woodland area, this includes structures erected by the paintball guys and our rostrum and container.
We will have to move all our gear as soon as possible as a Court Judge will be visiting the site in three weeks time to check the work has been carried out.
As the saying goes 'every cloud has a silver lining' one of our club members is looking into the possibility of allowing us to use one of his fields on a temporary basis while we look for a permanent fixture.
I'd like to thank everyone who has helped over the past weeks to get the track to a point where we could use it. On behalf of the club I would like to apologise for the disappointing events over the past week, unfortunately it has been out of the clubs control.
I am confident the club will continue and go from strength to strength, and if I have anything to do with it, it will!!
Paul Teece
July 12
Well it looks like I have some bad news. After only a few weeks of use our new track may no longer be available to us. I will post up the details hopefully over the next few days as soon as they become available to me. The Club has been informed there have been people using the track outside of club meetings, under no circumstances should this take place and no-one is to use the track until further notice until I have been informed otherwise.
Paul Teece
Club Chairman
June 26
The track is now in use and we had a successful meeting last Wednesday. We still need to carry out some work on the track though, we need to build the jumps and bumps so each meeting will start with an hour of work and then some racing. Meet at 6.30 pm racing from 7.30 pm.
